Sports

Sports are a really big part of life for me, as I have been doing them all throughout my highschool career. I started out with football as my main sport, and there I learned valuable life lessons. For example, one day during my freshman year I didn't show up because I didn't feel like it, but it turned out that when I was gone I had won an award and had gotten a jersey to wear on friday because they thought I was ready to be in a varsity environment, If i had shown up. I didn't show up that one day and I had to go to practice with the JV team while my other teammates got to play in the game. This experience taught me to show up everyday, even if you don't feel like it, and it carried on when I eventually joined track my junior year. The attendance there made it easy to skip practice, as there were too many people for the coaches to roll call individually, so they had you fill out a goggle form everyday to track if you were there, so you could easily just fill out the form and go home, but I learned from football that skipping practice will not help you in the slightest, so the only time I was absent from the team was when I got struck with a bad cold and was out for a few days, but came back to practice even when I wasn't at 100%. I learned that it would be better to suffer through the physical and mental pain of showing up to a strenuous practice is better than sitting down on my bed doing nothing.
