- I had an internship at literacy together where I showed phonics based literacy instruction to support elementary age, students, in an afterschool program, during my internship. my experience began with a training session, followed by1:1 literacy instruction throughout the school year. The training focused on phonics based instructional strategies. This allowed me to learn how to structure daily one hour lessons to strengthen literacy skills and love for reading. It included choosing appropriate instructional material to support the learning objectives each day the students that received 1:1 tutoring support demonstrated academic growth and literacy skills over the course of the school year.
