SHADOWING AND RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Bethesda Health Clinic - Shadowing Intern - (January 2021 to March 2022)

  • This was my first time ever shadowing and I was super eager to learn. This clinic’s main goal was to help low-end income families through providing excellent dental care at an extremely low rate, so you get to see things you might not see at a traditional dental clinic. As my time at Bethesda progressed my responsibilities grew to flipping rooms, sanitizing tools, taking in patients, and even getting hands on as a dental assistant. I have about 150 hours shadowed at this clinic.

Swinney Dental - Shadowing Intern - (April 2021 to Present)

  • Swinney Dental allowed to me to observe procedures that were not done at Bethesda, such as extensive root canals and cosmetic dentistry procedures. They also had top-notch technology to help with providing efficient dental care. At Swinney dental I mainly focused on observing and asking questions, I still return to this clinic when I am back in town from school and it is so rewarding because I am now paying attention to things so differently due to the knowledge that I have obtained at TAMCOD. I have about 250 hours shadowed at this clinic.

Undergraduate Research Under Dr. Patterson - Research Assitant - (January 2022 - December 2022)

  • Working with Dr. Patterson opened my eyes to a whole lot of new lab techniques, instrumentation, and knowledge. In his lab we were working with a catalyst, CelB, and a protein scaffold known has HK97. The purpose of this research was to see if encapsulating CelB within HK97 would improve its catalytic function and make it more durable. This can be relevant for industrial applications, so that their products are catalyzed on a relevant time scale.
