Third-semester nursing student seeking an opportunity for full-time employment. I have completed 1 year of nursing school at the University of Texas-Arlington. I have gained hands-on clinical experience in a hospital environment, working across various departments including medical-surgical, telemetry, oncology, and behavioral health, accumulating over 160 hours. This experience was acquired through placements at JPS, University Behavioral Health of Denton, and Texas Health hospitals.
Acquired hands-on clinical exposure in both the medical-surgical and telemetry units. Assisted nurses in evaluating patient conditions, administering medications, providing education, and documenting medical records including patient medical history, vital signs, and test outcomes. Monitored patients' cardiac and respiratory rhythms using EKG and oxygen monitoring equipment.
Conducted initial assessments by engaging in interviews with both patients and their relatives to compile comprehensive case histories. Developed and implemented nursing care plans for patients, making diagnoses regarding their medical and emotional well-being and suggesting appropriate courses of treatment. Collaborated with psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to devise tailored treatment strategies for clients. Administered psychotropic drugs and other medications, observing and documenting their effects, and facilitated additional medical attention as needed. Assisted clients in comprehending their emotional disturbances and recognizing the necessity for treatment, while ensuring a secure environment for both staff and patients. Monitored vital signs to gauge pain levels and ensured prompt pain management. Recorded all pertinent patient information in medical records in adherence to physician directives, maintaining strict confidentiality. Kept accurate records of patient treatments, immunizations, and lab results in accordance with standard medical protocols. Employed therapeutic communication techniques to engage in a dialogue with patients, utilizing both verbal and non-verbal signals. Employed specialized strategies to facilitate patients' comprehension of their condition or circumstances, while fostering an atmosphere where patients felt empowered to openly share their thoughts and emotions within a framework of mutual respect and acceptance.
Gained clinical expertise on the medical-surgical floor, shadowing and supporting nurses in patient care delivery. Conducted client assessments, monitored vital signs, and interpreted various medical readings including Intra Aortic Balloon Pump, Arterial lines, and ECG. Provided compassionate comfort care to patients and assisted in medication administration under nurse supervision. Recorded comprehensive patient medical histories, vital signs, and test outcomes in medical records.
