I currently provide comprehensive in-home care for a client diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), delivering assistance with daily activities including bathing, meal preparation, household maintenance, medication administration, daily blood pressure monitoring, and transfer assistance utilizing an EZ stand and hoyer lift. My role focuses on ensuring the client's comfort, safety, and well-being while supporting their independence and encouraging activities to improve overall wellness.
During my time at the Deery Suites, I worked in the skilled unit for six months, where I provided assistance to long-term patients and those undergoing rehabilitation. Additionally, I assumed the responsibilities of a hospitality worker due to staffing shortages during part of my shifts, catering to the clients' dining needs. After six months, I transitioned to a travel Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) role within the organization, where I was assigned to various Western Home locations, including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, in-home care, and long-term care facilities.
In this capacity, I executed a range of clinical tasks, such as medication administration, vital signs monitoring, blood sugar level checks, wound care, personal hygiene assistance, mobility support, and mealtime aid. My patient interactions encompassed individuals recovering from diverse conditions, such as knee replacements, bone fractures, motor vehicle accidents, respiratory ailments, dementia, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, visual impairment, mental health disorders, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, bacterial and skin infections, as well as pressure injuries, etc.
I began my career as a Home Health Aide (HHA) in an assisted living, where I provided comprehensive care to residents. Upon obtaining my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, I expanded my responsibilities to include shifts in the nursing home, where I worked across both units.
In my role as an HHA, I assisted clients with medication administration, room maintenance, laundry services, bathing, transfers, dressing assistance, and emotional support, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Transitioning to the role of a CNA in the nursing unit, I continued aiding residents with eating, bathing, transfers, vital signs monitoring, dressing changes, personal hygiene, and other essential tasks, maintaining a strong focus on their individual needs and ensuring their safety and comfort.
