Seeking to utilize my 15 years of experience overseeing and leading people effectively with equity and empathy to an organization that can further my career alignment and development through new growth and learning opportunities.
As the Senior Program Director for the Charles E. Lakin YMCA, I directly oversee staff, and programming as it relates to, Membership Services and Youth and Family. I help lead and guide staff, front-line and Director level, on proper processes and procedures and am able to accommodate and address all learning styles. I am responsible for the financial health of our programming by creating, promoting and reaching out directly to families who may be interested in what we offer. I assist with the planning and execution of community events at our location, and, at times, others, to engage the community and bring our members, and non-members, together for fellowship and fun. I address and diffuse various situations in our building, or over the phone, from member concerns to medical emergencies. When I took over the membership facing side of this role, I was able to build confidence in a team that had been lacking communication and involvement and have brought them closer together. One of my proudest accomplishments during this role was becoming a quality team lead to help establish consistent standards and proper training and development for all Director level and part-time staff to help guide them through their roles, confidently.
As the Youth and Family Director, my primary responsibilities centered around our Child Watch and Youth Activity rooms as well as Summer Day Camp and other programs that related to providing fun activities to the youth in our building in a safe and enjoyable way. Oversaw and lead up to 12 Summer Day Camp Counselors and 85 campers at any given time during the camp season. Responsible for planning and ensuring effective execution of camp activities took place on a daily basis for 12 weeks of the year. Determined and tracked budgeted income and expenses with accuracy and transparency.
As a teacher for the YMCA, I was responsible for screening applicants and coordinating phone and in-person interviews. I was responsible for maintaining child-friendly environments both indoors and outdoors, ensuring the kids had fun, enriching activities while in our care. Instructed children in proper health and personal habits while encouraging good behaviors using the positive reinforcement method. Able to effectively communicate openly with parents about daily activities and behaviors.
