Sachin Shyamsundar

Currently enrolled for second semester in Rochester Institute of Technology majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Have experience in working with equipments in the machine shop such as the drill press, milling machine, and welding machines. Have experience in computer-aided design and have used products such as Onshape, Sketchup, and Solid Works. Also have experience in programming such as Python, Academy CMU CS, Arduino Programming, C++, and Java.

• Experience in working with machine shop equipment, such as the drill press, milling machine, and welding machines. Used this equipment to build a piston mechanism.
• Experience in working with computer-aided design, such as Onshape and SolidWorks. Created several designs, like fidget spinners, a spaceship model, a piston assembly, and a chime machine. Designed several parts for the piston assembly, which were later used to assemble the parts for the actual piston assembly.
• Worked with a group to create a chime machine design that plays a certain tune. The chime machine represents a crankshaft in the middle, with a lever that represents a reciprocating mechanism that would strike a chime at a specific moment. Using CAD, I designed specific parts, such as the frame, rotating crankshaft, and the lever. The design also consisted of motors and gears that would be connected to an Arduino box. Using Arduino programming, we were able to get the chime machine to play the specific tune we wanted.

VOLUNTEERING

• Produced a video for the Simply Be Kind Foundation dedicated to cyclists around the world. The video showcases an individual who had been killed in Tajikistan while on a cycling trip.
• Directed a short film for my Digital Filmmaking class called "Tunneling Through Dreams". Worked in a group of five people. Developed a storyboard, camera diagram, and shot list for the film.
• Was a Chemistry Tutor for a charitable organization called Sevalaya in Tamilnadu, India. Taught underprivileged high school students redox reactions, acid-base reactions, and atomic structure.
• Worked as a video production intern for value-added reseller company in Princeton, New Jersey called Princeton IT Services. Created product promo videos/advertisement and uploaded it on the company channel,
• Produced a video for a stress club in my high school. Interviewed professors and students on how they deal with stress. Compiled and edited a video that was uploaded it on youtube.
• Volunteered for a non-profit organization called Charity Crossing. Volunteered at a local church donating to less privileged people.
