Sadie Springer

Political Science student at Brown University with interdisciplinary training in Africana Studies, Sociology, History, Urban Studies, and Gender Studies, focused on racial justice, public policy, and historical research. Experienced in archival and academic research, legislative policy analysis, community journalism, and grassroots organizing. Committed to advancing equity through scholarship, advocacy, and public history, with long-term goals of pursuing a Ph.D. in Africana Studies focused on Black political and diasporic histories.

• Awarded the Edward Guiliano Global Fellowship to conduct independent field research in Brazil examining gun legislation, governance, and state violence, including comparative policy and ethnographic research on Afro-Brazilian communities.
• Contributing researcher for the Brown Initiative for Policy (BIP) HOME Project, producing published affordable housing policy recommendations for Rhode Island and attending Rhode Island General Assembly sessions to engage directly with legislative processes.
• Selected as a SPRINT Undergraduate Researcher at Brown University, conducting archival research under Professor Robert Self on segregation in education and school choice in the Northern United States.
• Led successful fundraising initiatives as President of an Intersectional Feminism Club, raising over $3,000 for Planned Parenthood to support reproductive healthcare access.
• Raised $15,000 as Student Council President to subsidize prom costs and ensure accessibility for lower-income students.
• Organized multiple student walkouts of 500+ participants advocating for gun reform, reproductive rights, and opposition to censorship policies.
