I am a high-character overachiever who is looking for an opportunity to change careers. I worked as a senior sports writer for The Northeastern student newspaper at Northeastern State University from 2010-2011 where I primarily covered sports but I also covered other events such as the 2010 gubernatorial debate, the Red Fern Festival and student events. In addition to my experience as a reporter I worked as video coordinator for the Northeastern State University Football team.
I joined the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma through the job for a day program in June 2016 where I worked in the HIM file room as a clerk at the CNHSA clinic in McAlester, Oklahoma. I was hired full-time in August 2016 as a Registration Clerk where I worked until March 2017. In March 2017 I was recruited by Maranda Surginer, the HIM supervisor in McAlester to join the HIM department as a Medical Records Tech. I went back to school in 2018 to earn my second Bachelor's Degree, this time in Health Information Management. In November 2020 I was hired as McAlester's HIM Manager on an interim basis. In January 2021 I passed the Registered Health Information Administrator exam to earn my RHIA credentials and in May of 2021 I graduated from Missouri Western State University and was hired as the HIM manager full-time at the McAlester clinic. In 2023 I transferred to the Talihina Youth Center as Child Development Specialist where I currently work.
In my current position I supervise five staff members who are responsible for: medical coding, release of information, filing, archiving, directing phone calls and many other tasks within the HIM department. My responsibilities include scanning, filing, release of information, audits, monitoring staff accuracy and productivity, running weekly & monthly reports, attending management meetings, reviewing legal documents, updating staff on HIM policy, and coordinating with other departments.
My primary responsibilities included scanning, filing and completing release of information requests. I coordinated with my supervisor, coworkers and medical staff to ensure all essential duties were performed in a timely manner. Secondary duties included auditing my coworker's filing, archiving charts, cleaning the office, delivering records to providers, performing safety training and any other duties that are required of me.
My duties for this position included providing excellent customer service, updating demographic information, creating new charts, verifying and scanning insurance cards, social security cards, state IDs birth certificates and any other documentation required. I also coordinated with HIM to ensure that policy and procedure were correctly followed at all times by coworkers and patients.
I was hired as a file clerk through the Choctaw Nation Job for the Day program. My primary duties included sorting and filing documents in a terminal digit filing system. Additional duties included shredding paper and cleaning the office.
I worked as a sales associate in the team sports department where I cleaned, stocked and worked as a cashier selling any and all forms of sporting goods.
My duties included spending 10-12 hours per week mowing, trimming, picking up trash, cleaning the church grounds and locking up church facilities after services.
I served as a missionary and live-in house parent to five to ten children ranging in age from three to seventeen. My duties included cooking, cleaning, transportation, medicine administration, extensive documentation of behavior. In addition to the above duties, I also coordinated the physical, mental and emotional well-being of my children with my supervisor and other staff. This job taught me patience, understanding and how to persevere through the hard moments of life.
In 2012 I took duties as assistant offensive line coach in addition to my previous responsibilities as video coordinator. Those duties included attending daily meetings with staff and athletes, mentoring athletes, breaking down film, film study, practice responsibilities and game-day responsibilities totaling 60-80 hours of work per week.
My duties included recruiting, training and managing the volunteer camera crew. I also supervised the filming and editing of all practice, game and highlight film. Finally, I was responsible for obtaining opponent game film and sharing our game film with our opponents through HUDL.
I was responsible for writing multiple articles a week while covering all forms of sporting events such as football, basketball and tennis.
I assisted student writers by editing their work and providing advice on the content of their stories.
In this position I helped maintain, clean, distribute and organize athletic equipment for the Northeastern State University football team.
