  • Program in which local high school and middle school students are provided further exposure to various aspects of the medical field, with the support of the College of Medicine faculty and facilities. Was responsible for overseeing small group sessions in which students interacted with standardized patients. Aided students in developing and refining history-taking and patient examination skills. Also helped to provider college application counseling services to high school students.

Camp Kesem at Stony Brook University

  • Camp Kesem is a national organization that hosts free week-long summer camps for the children of people affected by cancer. Started volunteering as a counselor and eventually advanced to the level of a Operations Coordinator over the course of three years. As an operations coordinator, I was responsible for planning the week-long summer camp and procuring all necessary supplies. I was also responsible for developing a schedule and helping to fundraise and allocate a $110,000 budget. Additionally I was part of the leadership team that supervised 70 counselors and a 120 campers.

Global Public Health Brigades

  • As a volunteer, I went on two brigades; once to Honduras and once to Nicaragua. During these brigades, I helped to build basic sanitary facilities in local, underserved areas. This aided in improving long term public health outcomes in these areas.
