Attended the summer research camps and learned about computational biology, biotechnology sequencing, and sequenced personal genome. Learned how to use patient RNA expression data to identify RNA biomarkers related to certain disease and analyze next-gen raw sequencing data through the use of the Linux operating system and various Linux commands to run programs. Entered the MiRcore volunteer program and works on group research through the club GIDAS.
Researched myocardial cell response after laser ablation and observed causes infarction in neighboring heart cells. Used data and image processing to study the changes in area of the infarcted heart cells in support of the border zone theory. Submitted an abstract to the BMES poster competition in Washington and presented the abstract.
