I have held a variety of different jobs and have learned the importance of hard work, responsibility and respectful interpersonal communication. Most recently, my role as a Sternman on a lobster boat has taught me how to work hard and how to persevere when the job is difficult or unpleasant. We leave with the tide and the importance of being flexible and on time is critical. In my role as a dishwasher, I learned how to work efficiently and in my busing role at the Bistro, I practiced my interpersonal skills and customer service on a nightly basis. Finally, my past coaching jobs were helpful in developing my leadership skills as well as showing patience and exuding a positive vibe!
I worked with Russel, setting and hauling lobster traps on his 35 foot boat. He has 350 traps in the water and we haul all our traps 2 days a week. The other 3 days of the week we are doing landscaping tasks at both of his properties from 6:30-4pm. I have worked for him part time for the past 2 years. This summer was the first full time summer.
My main job as a busser is to clear the tables as soon as the costumer leaves, to check the surrounding areas, and then to set the table, having it look spotless. I also did a lot of other side jobs including: sorting and rolling silverware; running glasses; helping out at the bar; hosting and seating guests, and almost anything else that needed to be done. Another huge part of this job was working with the guests, whether it be helping out waiters or interacting with them throughout the night.
I worked at the Grillhouse as a dishwasher for 2 years as one of the main dishwashers there. Our top priority was keeping the dishware and silverware spotless, followed by keeping the entire kitchen clean. We also were in charge of taking the trash out and closing up the restaurant after our final cleaning.
In the summer of 2022 and 2023 I was a coach through our Recreation programs, coaching at soccer camps. While coaching I promoted sportsmanship values among the athletes, fostering a positive competitive atmosphere within the team environment. In order for things to go smoothly it required that I collaborated with other coaches to share best practices, techniques, and insights for overall program improvement. I also was able to develop strong relationships with players' families to encourage, support, and involvement in their athletic growth.
At Hannaford super markets I was a cashier, bagger, and cart pusher. I worked with countless number of people, helping them with anything from just checking out, to getting refunds, to directing them to where they need to go. This undoubtedly gave me skills with working with costumers and being able to work with my team.
