- Develops or modifies respiratory care plans and makes specific recommendations to physicians regarding indicated therapy.
- Administers appropriate diagnostic tests and procedures to evaluate therapeutic responses including blood gas sampling and evaluation, oxygen saturation, end-tidal cardon dioxide measurement, pulmonary mechanics, inhaled medications.
- Assists with endotracheal intubation and bronchoscopy.
- Responds to respiratory and other defined emergencies such as transfer of high risk patients, cardiopulmonary arrest and trauma activations.
- Maintains artificial airways and provides mechanical ventilation, in addition provides transport of those patients to locations for tests and procedures.
- Provides invasive, non-invasive ventilation (Ventilator,BIPAP, CPAP).
- Administers oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy and inhalation therapy to improve patients' breathing and lung function.
- Educates patients and families on proper use of respiratory equipment and techniques for managing respiratory disorders to improve patient outcomes.
- Completes necessary documentation of all pertinent observations related to patient care treatments, response to therapy and all recommendations for modification in treatment plans.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
