Role: Provide highly skilled complex care to critically ill patients w/ severe cardiac or vascular conditions, often post cardiac surgery or acute cardiac event.

Responsibilities:

• Continues Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients' vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, etc.), cardiac rhythms, neurological status, and hemodynamic parameters using equipment like arterial lines and central venous catheters.
• Medication Management: Safely administer and manage multiple complex and high risk continuous intravenous (IV) medications. Ensure knowledge of and monitor for all possible adverse reactions and side effects.
• Device Management: Manage a variety of specialized devices and equipment like intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices, external pacemakers, defibrillators, ventilators, and CRRT machines.
• Emergency Response: Recognize and respond to cardiac emergencies, perform all functions of providing advance cardiac life support and resuscitation.
• Specialized Assessments: Perform comprehensive cardiac assessments, including assessing for fluid overload, recognizing arrhythmias, and interpreting electrocardiograms.
• Patient Education: Educate patients and families about their condition, treatment plan, and discharge plans.
• Collaboration: Effectively communicate with and facilitate between physicians, surgeons, pharmacists, and other members of an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals in order to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of comprehensive assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment in the electronic medical record.

Role: Coordinate and supervise the delivery of educational activities on unit. Mange the orientation process for all new hires. Develop educational programs, materials, and processes to promote professional development for nurses throughout the organization. Use tools, skills and knowledge gained from experience to improve the healthcare practice of learners.
