  • Clipping fins allows IFW fisheries biologists to identify and age hatchery-raised fish in the wild. This allows biologists to determine how fast a fish is growing, and then adjust stocking rates or regulations in a waterway in order to enhance a fishery. It also helps conserve native fish populations
