Currently, I work as an X-ray technologist at Carle Bromenn Medical Center in Bloomington. In this role, I have gained valuable hands on experience working with a wide variety of patients and clinical situations. I have had the opportunity to assist in the operating room, work with inpatients, respond to trauma cases, and perform imaging for routine outpatient exams. Working in this environment has also allowed me to develop strong patient care and communication skills. I interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and at different stages of health, which has made me a better tech but more importantly a better person in the long run. Although my role may seem small within the larger hospital setting, I take pride in being part of the process that helps guide diagnosis and treatment. I understand that even the smallest contributions can have a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.
During my clinical training, I was privileged to work at both the Orthopedic Institute and Rush University Medical Center. At the Orthopedic Institute, I worked closely with many older patients and was able to focus heavily on bone imaging while learning exactly what physicians look for in diagnostic images. My experience at Rush Hospital placed me in a completely different, fast-paced environment where I learned how to work efficiently while still maintaining high-quality patient care and imaging standards. I gained experience using a C-Arm during surgical procedures, worked throughout many areas of the hospital, and learned how to care for a wide variety of patients in stressful and high-pressure situations.
