  • As a volunteer dental assistant at Lucky Teeth, I was entrusted with a variety of responsibilities tailored to the unique needs of pediatric patients. My primary role involved preparing the children for their appointments, which required building trust and ensuring they felt comfortable in the dental chair. I assisted the dentist during procedures by handing over instruments, suctioning, and providing reassurance to the young patients. Additionally, I was responsible for taking X-rays, which often involved explaining the process to kids in a way that would alleviate their fears.

Dr. Ramsey Shouman, Shouman and Tegerdine Family Dentistry, Columbia, MO. Jan. 2021- Feb.

• I spent a significant amount of time observing Dr. Elkady work on patients as she did various procedures on them. I watched her do fillings, extractions, cleanings, crown placements,

root canals, or orthodontic treatments. Observing these procedures helped me understand the steps involved, the techniques used, and the tools utilized in different dental treatments. I also was able to learn how dentists interact with patients by watching Dr. Elkady talk with her patients. Many of the patients were usually nervous before procedures and I learned the steps to relax the patients.
