As a Licensed Practical Nurse at Robbin’s Nest Children’s Home, I am entrusted with the daily healthcare and emotional well-being of children in a residential care setting. MY RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:
- Health Monitoring & Medical Care:
Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate medication records.
Conduct daily health assessments and monitor for signs of illness or distress.
Coordinate with physicians, pediatric specialists, and external healthcare providers for follow-up and emergency care.
Maintain up-to-date immunization records and ensure compliance with public health regulations.
- Emotional & Developmental Support:
Provide compassionate, trauma-informed care tailored to the individual needs of each child.
Support children during medical procedures and help reduce anxiety related to health issues.
Encourage healthy routines including proper hygiene, nutrition, and sleep habits.
- Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with child care workers, therapists, social workers, and management to ensure a coordinated approach to each child’s care.
Participate in care planning meetings, case conferences, and staff training sessions.
Maintain confidential and detailed health records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Environmental Safety:
Monitor the living environment for potential health and safety risks.
Provide first aid and emergency response in the event of injuries or acute medical issues.
Educate staff and children on hygiene practices and infection control.
