Dr. Anarwat is a Global Health and Development expert with over 15 years of experience in the field of Global Health, Health Financing, Human services, and International Development practice. He combines both program implementation and academic research to help solve global disease burden, contemporary development problems, and poverty reduction through cross-cutting research, dissemination, Program implementation, and policy advocacy on equity and access to health care and other economic opportunities for economically disadvantaged people in, especially, Low -and middle -income countries (LMICs). He is currently an independent Global Health Consultant ( Health Care Financing, Burden of HIV/AIDS Family Planning and Reproductive Health, COVID-19 impacts on populations, Program Evaluation, Costing of Health care Service, Strategic Planning, and Health Policy Advice). He is an astute Researcher -Global Health Economics, Health Policy, and Management. Until recently, he was Visiting Research Scholar (Health Economics and Global Health Policy) at the Heller School for Social Policy, and Management, Brandeis University, Waltham MA. Recently, He Served as the Team Leader and Country Program Manager for the Abt Associates –USAID’s Health Financing and Governance (HFG) Project in Bethesda, MD, and Ghana. He led and managed a team of experts and consultants to provide technical assistance to Ghana’s National Health Insurance Scheme on strategic and evidence-based purchasing. He also embarked on policy dialogue/advocacy and stakeholder engagement with the World Bank, WHO, and working in close collaboration with the project client- USAID, Ministry of Health, Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, other USAID’s Implementing Partners, Civil Society, and Media Groups, for health systems strengthening and better strategies to improve access and delivery of quality health care. Prior to the HFG project, he worked as a Policy Research Officer at BasicNeeds, a UK-based International NGO working in the areas of Mental Health and Development where he helped conduct operational research on the Economics of Mental Health and Development in Ghana and embarked on policy advocacy on reducing stigmatization of mental health issues, while helping to reintegrate recovered mentally ill people in their communities through skill development and Livelihood employment creation. Dr. Anarwat was very instrumental in advocacy for the passage of Ghana’s National Health Insurance Law for the establishment of National Health Insurance in Ghana. He received his Ph.D., and MA Social Policy with specialization in Global Health, Health Economics and Development from Brandeis University, Heller School for Social Policy, and Management, and MA Development Studies from the Institute of Statistical Social and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, Ghana, and BA (HONS) Economics and French from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi Ghana Experienced Natural Sciences Manager adept at overseeing scientific research and development projects.
