  • I currently work for the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) assigned as a supervisor in the Arizona Commercial Vehicle Safety Partnership (ACVSP). I have 12 years of experience in this position. I am responsible for interpreting Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and policies and applying this knowledge to law enforcement activities.
  • As a supervisor in the ACVSP, I am responsible for planning and scheduling my unit’s commercial vehicle enforcement (CVE) activities. I ensure my employees understand Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations, enforcement policies and stay up to date with changes to regulations and enforcement policies. I review and analyze current and historical commercial motor vehicle (CMV) collisions. Based on the analysis, I plan the deployment of personnel throughout the year with the goal of CMV collision reduction. I am responsible for developing annual goals and expectations for my unit, developing schedules, work assignments, and monitoring unit productivity. I maintain spreadsheets to track my unit's completion of mandatory training and CMV inspections to enure requirements are met to maintain peace officer and CMV inspector certifications. I have provided input to the MCSAP grant manager during the application process reference projected goals for total number of inspections, number of each inspection level, passenger vehicle inspections, and outreach.
  • Responsible for investigating, formulating, and auditing DataQ responses for my unit.
  • I utilize SafeSpect to conduct roadside CMV inspections in accordance with CVSA inspection protocols. I also gather and analyze statistics derived from my unit’s CMV inspections to produce reports and ensure quality inspections.
  • Since 2013, I have been responsible for the planning and coordination of the ACVSP’s annual weeklong detail, Operation Southern Shield. This required me to develop and maintain professional relationships with other CVE agencies as a representative of AZDPS. Since taking over this responsibility, Operation Southern Shield has grown into the ACVSP’s largest annual CVE detail. The detail now encompasses over 220 miles of interstate along I-10 and I-19 in southern Arizona. As coordinator, I am responsible for coordinating the detail between agencies, developing the operational plan, personnel assignments, locations, briefing the operational plan to participants, compiling detail stats, and reporting on the results of the detail.
  • Utilize multiple federal databases such as MCMIS, CDLIS, Query Central, and others on a routine basis.
  • I have implemented two programs within my unit with the goal of increasing commercial passenger carrier vehicle inspections to enable my agency to meet MCSAP grant requirements.
