For as long as I can remember I've enjoyed working with children and passing down the bit of knowledge I've gained as a young adult. To me it is a both a responsibility and a privilege to be a teacher. Not only because it helps those who come after you be better people. It helps you yourself grow as a person. When we teach someone we not only reinforce a concept or idea for that person but we also help solidify it in our own mind. The teaching therefore is not only for the student, but also for us and everyone else in our lives. As teachers we strive to create better students who are ready to be integrated into the world and make their surroundings a better place. It is the most altruistic job there is and must be undertaken by people who have the genuine motivation to improve their society and world. Both working in public schools and the martial arts have honed my ability to instruct and have left me with a passion to raise strong young individuals with both compassion and determination. My martial arts practice and meditation practice have also given me the ability of great patience and endurance, making me a good fit to work with special needs students as they need a little extra care, patience and love. I hope to also raise strong students the way my teachers raised me and pass down the wealth of information given to me by those who came before me. I teach not only for my own honor, but for the honor of those taught me.
