As a Furnace Operator my job was to efficiently and safely manage the functionality of large industrial furnaces as they ran their 32 day cycles. I was responsible for starting up or, "firing" the furnace, making sure it ran correctly throughout the cycle and then off-firing at the appropriate time. This included, maintenance and repair of combustion burners, dealing with extreme heat, working on gas and air lines and even electrical problems at times as well as relaying all relative information to the next shift crew after mine. Before I acquired this position I was a crane operator for nearly a year, running a 10 ton capacity overhead crane using remote control or sometimes in the cabin of the crane. Also operating a forklift throught my entire employment there.
My job here was very high intensity and physically demanding as it involved fulfilling orders throughout a massive warehouse and maintaining 95% production rate or higher. This included a steady jogging pace while leading an electric pallet jack down the aisles, hand picking bulk food items and stacking them on pallets in a solid, self standing stack until order completion.
