  • Lead coordinator with several state agencies with regards to mass care, food and sheltering. Those agencies include Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA), Dept. of Public Health, Dept. of Natural Resources, County Emergency Management Agencies, and the American Red Cross. Some of those duties include: leading meetings with regards to ESF-6, creating and delivering presentations to those partners and enhancing the partnerships with and within each agency.
  • Leading the group of 14 Regional Emergency Management Coordinators with DFCS during disasters by providing feedback, guidance, information and follow-up.
  • Safety Liaison with all 159 county offices, providing guidance, training, and field visits with regards to safety procedures and incidents
  • Implemented an accountability system that would ensure that all 159 counties complete quarterly drills as well as confirmed their back-up office locations twice a year.
  • State Operations Center. During a disaster, am deployed to the SOC at GEMA and assist with coordination of sheltering and other resources statewide.
  • Participate in local, regional and statewide weather conference calls (National Weather Service and GEMA) and relay information to all of DFCS leadership.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to state, regional, and county DFCS leadership with regards to disasters, safety, and preparedness
  • Was the ESF-6 (Mass Care, Sheltering, Feeding) lead during Hurricane Michael, the largest mass care response in the history of the State of Georgia. As the State Emergency Management Coordinator, led the sheltering response during Hurricanes Matthew, Irma, Michael, Dorian as well as several other disasters (including tornadoes in Albany, GA, ice storms, as well as other incidents).
  • American Red Cross Shelter and Disaster Strike Team Lead. When activated, called upon to accompany and serve with the ARC to handle on-the-ground emergency operations
  • ARC Shelter Trainer, statewide. Delivered over 50 trainings statewide, and lead the coordination of other trainings with other trained DFCS staff
  • Initiated ESF-6 National Conference Calls, whereby all of the ESF-6 leads from across the United States, including Puerto Rico, New York City, British Columbia, participate on a monthly conference call to share ideas, resources, and provide situational awareness
  • Due to the need identified by several national ESF-6 leads, am leading the formation of the International Association of Mass Care Professionals, which will aim to support Emergency Management nationwide

  • Repatriation. In the event of a large scale repatriation event, am the State of GA team lead and will assist in the coordination of resources and personnel to assist those who relocate to the U.S
