I, Samuel W. Long, Jr., a Native of Waco, Texas, began my musical journey in the 7th grade and graduated from University High School in 1993. After graduation, I earned a scholarship to attend Prairie View A&M University in the Fall of 1993 and join the Marching Storm majoring in Music Education. During my college career, I became the section leader of the Baritone section and later earned the Head Drum-Major position. I participated in the Marching Band, Jazz Band, Brass Ensemble, and Symphonic Band at Prairie View A&M University. In the Fall of 2001, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Music and started teaching at Hempstead ISD from 2001 to 2003. I then taught at Royal ISD (2003-2010), Calvert ISD (2010-2012), Houston ISD (Jack Yates HS) (2012-2014), Royal ISD (2014-2019), Texas College (07/11/22 - 10/11/22), Marlin ISD (2022-2023), and Hearne ISD (2023-2024), and East Carroll School Board - General Trass High School (2024-25).
