My name is Sandy. My primary specialty is labor and delivery. I have a great deal of experience in the obstetrics field of nursing. I also have experience in PACU, med-surg, and long-term care. I am very passionate about the holistic care of my patients. This includes trauma-informed care, diversity, equity, inclusion, as well as informed consent. I am also an educator and have received a master’s in nursing education. I am involved in mentoring novice nurses and nursing students to help them achieve their greatest potential. I strive to consistently develop strong relationships with patients and families through empathetic communication, a respectful attitude, and excellent customer service. What makes me unique from my colleagues is my profound desire to learn and grow professionally. My self-determination and curiosity encourage me to take that extra step to educate myself so that I can educate my patients. I place patient advocacy very high on my needs assessment of every patient I care for. I recognize that effective communication throughout the interpersonal team, including the patient and their support persons, is imperative to support women and birthing individuals throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum stages. Informed consent and decision-making are crucial to positive maternal and neonatal outcomes.

BLS, ACLS, and NRP certified.
NCC EFM certification.
Master's degree in nursing education.
My nursing career has led me through many phases of healthcare. I have worked in outpatient, long-term care, medical/surgical nursing, post-anesthesia care, high and low-risk labor and delivery, infant care, and postpartum care, and education. My dedication, knowledge, self-determination, strong work ethic, and resilience have brought me to this transitional point in my professional career. As I pivot from a bedside nurse and educator for nurses, patients, and parents, I hope to provide that same level of dedication and motivation to the next chapter of my career.
