I value servicing my local community. Through my faith, I have the pleasure to volunteer at my church, Parkway Fellowship North Campus in the Kids' Ministry. Each week, I teach children ranging from first grade to fifth grade about biblical lessons and stories. As a group, we encourage each other, pray together, and discuss how we can live our lives in a godly way. To ensure the growth of this program, I also donate monetary and school supplies monthly.
My love for animals, especially dogs has led me to volunteering at Special Pals Animal Shelter in Katy, Texas. At the shelter, I would help do laundry, clean kennels, wash bowls, feed the animals and play/walk the dogs. When not at the shelter, I help create social media content, share events, and help foster animals for Special Pals. I have rescued two beautiful dogs from Special Pals. My daughter and I have published children's books about one of our dogs to help generate donations for the shelter. A portion of my proceeds from my small business, Bo Biscuit Dog Treats, is also donated to Special Pals Animal Shelter.
I have volunteered with the Katy Student Run program. This program selects "at-risk" adolescents from all of the high school campuses in Katy ISD. The program mentors the adolescents while training for the Aramco Half Marathon in Houston, Texas. Through weekly workouts and early Saturday morning long runs, the students had a positive experience to work towards. Through the hours of training, I would talk with the students in my pace group about advice, situations in their lives, and strategies to help them cope and/or overcome challenges. I volunteered for four years as a Pace Team Lead, where I led a group of students and mentors through the training season.
