Throughout my childhood, I lived outside of the United States for 15 years. During those 15 years, I gave English classes to my friends and neighbors. The English classes I gave to kindergarteners and elementary students were always in group settings. Once I reached high school and middle school level, I began meeting each student at their home and giving individual lessons. Even though these classes were given on my own behalf and not through a school, I gained many skills and developed a deep passion for teaching. Once I graduated from Western Washington University, with a Bachelor's of Art in Elementary Eduction and an endorsement in Special Education, I served as a long-term substitute in the Spanish department at King's High School. I am now working in the Dual Language department at Emerson Elementary as a second grade teacher. I am passionate about promoting inclusion, critical thinking skills and student development. I am skillful in managing classroom environments and student behavior with positive and proactive strategies. I have excellent communication, relationship-building and problem-solving abilities.
