Dear Hiring Manager
My name is Sara Goossens, and I am currently completing my Associate Degree in Nursing with an expected graduation in May 2026 while simultaneously pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing through Boise State University, which I anticipate completing in December 2026. I am writing to express my interest in a New Graduate Registered Nurse position within your organization.
My journey into nursing has been shaped by more than ten years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a variety of healthcare specialties, including cardiology, pediatrics, oncology, surgery, and internal medicine. This experience has given me a strong clinical foundation and a deep appreciation for compassionate, patient-centered care. Throughout my career, I have developed strong assessment skills, experience with electronic health records such as EPIC and Cerner, and the ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
During my nursing clinical rotations, I gained over 600 hours of direct patient care experience in medical-surgical nursing, obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health, and geriatrics. These experiences strengthened my ability to think critically, prioritize patient needs, and provide safe, evidence-based care. I also had the opportunity to serve as a clinical team lead, assisting with coordination among nursing students to ensure patients received timely and effective care.
Receiving the Soroptimist International Live Your Dream Scholarship has also been an important milestone in my journey. As a single mother pursuing my nursing degree, this support has helped me continue working toward my goal of becoming a registered nurse and making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and families.
I am eager to begin my career as a registered nurse and contribute my dedication, compassion, and clinical experience to your healthcare team. I would be honored to have the opportunity to further discuss how my background and passion for nursing align with the needs of your organization.
