• My journey into nursing has been shaped by more than ten years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a variety of healthcare specialties, including cardiology, pediatrics, oncology, surgery, and internal medicine. This experience has given me a strong clinical foundation and a deep appreciation for compassionate, patient-centered care. Throughout my career, I have developed strong assessment skills, experience with electronic health records such as EPIC and Cerner, and the ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• During my nursing clinical rotations, I gained over 600 hours of direct patient care experience in medical-surgical nursing, obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health, and geriatrics. These experiences strengthened my ability to think critically, prioritize patient needs, and provide safe, evidence-based care. I also had the opportunity to serve as a clinical team lead, assisting with coordination among nursing students to ensure patients received timely and effective care.
• Receiving the Soroptimist International Live Your Dream Scholarship has also been an important milestone in my journey. As a single mother pursuing my nursing degree, this support has helped me continue working toward my goal of becoming a registered nurse and making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and families.
