As a clinical staff nurse at Women's Health Associates I obtain the patient's updated history and / or complaints they are having. I assist the physician in procedures such as pap smear, colposcopy and endometrial biopsy. Staff RN for the antepartum, laboring and post partum patient. I have been a charge nurse for the unit for many years. As a charge nurse we assign patients that are on the unit and as they arrive to the unit, make sure staffing is adequate for the oncoming shift and ensure the units code carts and anesthesia carts are up to date.

I also have worked as a preceptor teaching new nurses to L&D how to take care of the mother and fetus during both antepartum and laboring.

I have also worked in Interventional Radiology at St Dominic's. As a staff nurse in IR we admit patients for various biopsies, assess AV grafts that are malfunctioning, placement of chemports, G-tubes, drainage catheters, chest tube and many other lines. We are also the stroke comprehensive center for the state. If a stroke patient is a candidate for clot retrieval we take care of that patient. As the nurse we are in charge of a neurological assessment of the patient pre and post surgery, moderate sedation and monitoring of the patient during the procedure.
