I believe every student deserves a genuine opportunity to succeed. Too often, students are labeled before they are known. I have seen firsthand many students who are considered “difficult” or “unmotivated” simply have not yet had someone who believes they are capable. In my classroom, students are not defined by past performance or perception. If a student wants to learn, I believe they can learn and it is my responsibility to provide the structure, rigor, and encouragement to help them do so.

As a mathematics and computer science educator, I hold high expectations while maintaining high levels of support. I believe rigor and accessibility must coexist. Students may not remember every formula or line of code years from now, but they will remember whether they were capable. My goal is for students to leave my classroom understanding that while they may not retain every detail of a subject, they can retain confidence, resilience, and the understanding that everything has purpose, including themselves.
