Registered Nurse on 22-bed trauma and general surgery unit, caring for very high acuity surgical patients as well as victims of severe trauma including blunt force and penetrating injuries. Manages patients on ventilators and CVVHD, along with managing multiple vasopressors. Manages therapeutic hypothermia and assists in performing emergent surgical procedures at the bedside. Along with overflow neurovascular and stroke patients, and patients with traumatic brain injury. Performs various nursing interventions such as wound dressing, vital sign monitoring, and specimen collection. Administers/manages medications via oral, IV, and intramuscular injections and monitored responses. Assesses physical, psychological, physiologic, and cognitive status of patients. Assists providers in educating patients, families and caregivers on diagnosis and prognosis, treatment options, disease process, and management and lifestyle options.
