Driver 2017-2020
I was responsible for ensuring the safe pickup, assisting individuals who were not able to board without help, make sure everyone was buckled and remained buckled throughout the entire ride, and then once we reached our destination, I assisted those who needed assistance in deboarding, while also making sure the individuals were received by staff or family member upon their return.
Filled out daily attendance records as well as maintenance and mileage logs, in accordance with Bridgewell and State mandates, while also assuring the van was clean and clutter free for safe travel.
Assured that the van was at all times in compliance with State guidelines and participated in random audits of the safety equipment on the van.
Monitor 2021-Present
Assisted individuals while boarding on and off of the van, fastening seatbelts, and securing wheelchairs according to safety guidelines set forth by both Bridgewell and the State. Ensured the van was properly sanitized per Bridgewell and CDC guidelines.
Mediated any behavior outbursts or conflicts on the van, filing reports for State review.
Roseway Dayhab/KJM Dayhab Per Diem 2018-present
Roseway is a dayhab for high functioning, mostly self sufficient individuals, so my role in this program was to ensure no disagreements got out of control, ran groups ranging from exercise groups to human rights while assisting core staff in collecting data based on the individual's personal goals set forth by the behaviorist to maximize their time at program. Occasionally, I participated in PABC maneuvers (restraint maneuvers) to ensure an individual(s) were not able to harm their self or others, until deescalation tactics were effective and the individual was calm enough to return to the group. We also brought the individuals out into the community on various field trips ie. Brooksby Farm, The Audobon Society, Metro Bowl, etc.
KJM Dayhab
KJM Dayhab is a day program geared more to clients with more involved diagnoses and need much more involved care. Many of the clients are non-verbal, use wheelchairs or gait belts so the level of attentiveness required is greatly increased. Many of the individuals require assistance with toileting varying from using a hoyer to be transferred onto a changing table to transferring from a wheelchair directly to the toilet with support from staff. Similar to Roseway I was also responsible to ensuring individual goals were met daily, and data was recorded so that progression /digression can be measured by behaviorist.
I have spent most of my adult career as well as my youth, in some form of dealing with people, whether it be via customer service, collections or caregiving I would say my strongest personality trait is that I care deeply for people in general, but more specifically people with special needs I currently volunteer my time with two individuals who attend Bridgewell Roseway Dayhab One man, for HIPAA reasons we'll call him "W", We have been going out monthly starting in 2019, due to the fact his sister, who is his caregiver and guardian, and is physically unable to bring him out into the community, so I started spending time with him to alow him a bit of change of scenery and someone different to talk with after developing a close bond with him while driving him to Roseway daily The second man I spend time with lives in a group home and has no family to go on pass with or visit with him During the Pandemic, he lost services with his mentor, who was the only person in his life that wasn't a Bridgewell employee, so after receiving permission from his house director, I have been taking him out biweekly so he feels as though he has someone in the world that cares about him
