Philosophy for Education and Learning
I have found that philosophy of education of is a set of guiding principles that educators and instructional designers have to have in order to provide high quality service and learning opportunities to students. In my own roles in education, as a teacher and admission specialist, I have crafted my education philosophy around standards of beliefs and goals to help students become lifelong learners. This was a driving force for the work that I do and the purpose I find in my career to give back.
I am strongly committed to developing students’ talents by integrating media and technology, therefore, increasing motivation by connecting learning to their passions. I lead students by modeling a positive mindset and encourage questions and discovery as students master their coursework and find their voice. In my current role, working with college credit plus students, I would like to create a welcoming community at the college and focus on building strong relationships with my students to increase their confidence so they may use what they have learned and continue as adult learners after graduation.
I will use my knowledge of the developmental levels and challenges of adult learners, by understanding key principles of andragogy and strategies for applying the important theories. I know the responsibility I have to define their learning experience and inspire hope. I seek to continually challenge myself as an instructional designer, to engage in policy and improvement, and to learn to be a better servant leader, mentor, and lifelong learner.
