Assisting in equine assisted psychotherapy groups as an intern under a licensed mental health professional and equine specialist. I assist in ensuring the safety of the horses and participants during groups, and get hands on experience with facilitating psychotherapy groups for veterans while aqcuiring hours to obtain my certification as an equine specialist in mental health and learning.

This role begins May, 2024. As an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning, I will play a vital role in facilitating equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) to support individuals with mental health disorders and learning challenges. Working collaboratively with a licensed mental health professional, I will leverage the therapeutic power of horses to promote emotional regulation, cognitive development, and overall well-being. This role requires a deep understanding of equine behavior, effective therapeutic techniques, and a commitment to empowering clients through experiential learning with horses, as well as vigilance to ensure the safety of the clients and horses.

• Ensured rider success by providing thorough instruction on proper riding form, equipment usage, and horse handling techniques.
• Assist individuals in overcoming their fear of riding and riding anxiety.

This position included horse care and riding/training, barn management, and facility maintenance at a high-end training, breeding, and sales dressage farm. Working students represent Hampton Green Farm to high end clients and the public both on site as well as at social events, fundraisers, exhibitions, and competitions. This position required teamwork and diligence to ensure all horses were cared for and kept in top condition.
