  • Supervises daily activities of consultants who complete assignments and work in support of hiring efforts for department programs. The team reviews job controls, calculates salary determinations, verifies eligibly for various appointments, and approves personnel actions including transfers, training and development assignments, re-employment and LEAP.
  • The Hiring and Compensation Unit (HCU), ensures all hiring processes and procedures are conduced in accordance with department policies and procedures.
  • The HCU team provides technical advice on the application of civil service laws, rules and regulations pertaining to hiring.
  • The HCU team reviews and approves other related compensation requests including alternate range change placement, HAM 5 Payscale application, pay differentials, out of class assignments and arduous pay.
  • Provides services for the pre-employment medical exam process and signlanguage interpreter services for interviews.
  • Investigate and review hiring materials for purposes such as a State Personnel Board Audit, Merit Issue Complaint or Unlawful Appointment.
