Sarah Tamke

As a Summer Recreation Camp Leader, I was responsible for supervising and engaging groups of children aged 5-12 in a variety of daily activities, including sports, arts and crafts, and team-building games. I developed and led age-appropriate programming that emphasized creativity, cooperation, and fun, while ensuring the safety and well-being of every camper. I gained hands-on experience in conflict resolution, group management, and adaptability in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. This role strengthened my leadership, communication, and organizational skills, and deepened my passion for working with youth.

Working at one of Long Island’s most iconic fast-food spots, I gained valuable experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment known for quick service and consistent quality. My responsibilities included:

• Taking and accurately processing customer orders at the counters
• Operating the register and handling cash/card transactions with speed and accuracy
• Preparing burgers, fries, and beverages while maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards
• Restocking supplies and organizing the workspace to keep operations running smoothly
• Coordinating with team members during rush hours to ensure fast turnaround and customer satisfaction
• Greeting customers warmly and helping create a positive and friendly dining experience

Throughout my time at All American, I developed key soft skills such as time management, communication, and adaptability. I learned to stay calm and efficient under pressure, especially during lunch and dinner rushes with long lines of customers.

This role taught me the importance of teamwork, attention to detail, and representing a respected local business with pride and professionalism.
