Sarah Turpin

I began as a substitute paraeducator, supporting both preschool and middle school special education programs. Shortly after, I accepted a full-time role at the middle school before transitioning to the elementary school, where I worked in academic interventions for the remainder of my employment.

In this role, I:

Identified student needs and implemented targeted interventions in alignment with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).

Regularly taught small-group and one-on-one lessons in math and English for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Monitored student progress, analyzed data, and provided feedback to teachers to guide instruction.

Assisted classroom teachers, supported preschool programs during staffing shortages, and supervised recess daily.

Participated in ongoing professional development, both in person and online, to remain current with effective instructional practices and intervention strategies.

This experience strengthened my ability to adapt to diverse grade levels and student needs, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to a positive learning environment.

Provided compassionate, person-centered care to adults with physical and developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Responsibilities included:

Assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.

Supporting residents with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and dietary needs.

Administering medications as directed and monitoring for health or behavioral changes, reporting concerns to supervisors or healthcare professionals.

Encouraging independence by teaching and reinforcing daily living skills.

Planning and facilitating recreational and community activities to promote socialization and quality of life.

Maintaining a safe and clean living environment, including housekeeping and infection control practices.

Documenting daily care, progress notes, and incident reports according to facility guidelines.

Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team (nurses, therapists, social workers) to support individualized care plans.

Providing emotional support and building positive, trusting relationships with residents and their families.
