With a robust background at H-E-B , I excel in systems analysis and project management, blending technical skills with knowledge of business processes.

Proficient in leveraging data analysis to meet the needs of both the business and Accounting.

Positive, analytical thinker with knack for developing solutions for complex business ideas.

Known for being a "yes" person with proven skills to deliver quality solutions in a timely manner.

Proven attention to detail and data integrity.

Valued consultant for new and existing systems; such as cost components for Cost & Deals/CHEDR, Freight, and necessary Accounting controls.

Trusted advisor and liaison with our 3rd Party Auditing Firm, APEX Analytix.

Passion for learning the business and strategy. The "why" and not just the "how".

Ownership mentality. Putting the business first and keeping a focus on maximizing results as a Partner (PSP) and a Leader (LSP).

Greatest value to H-E-B is the combination of a Head for Business and Passion for Results through technology.

What I want to achieve:

  • Advance my career in leadership, business, and technology, through ...
  • Strategic level thinking, not just execution
  • Lead projects and train others using the business knowledge and skills I've gained over 30 years with H-E-B

Work History

IT Systems Analyst

H-E-B Grocery Company
10.1987 - 07.1989

Started my career in the IT Department at H-E-B working primarily with Payroll and Accounting systems on the Mainframe Computer.

IT Consultant

Neathery & Associaties for H-E-B Grocery Company
08.1997 - 12.2009

Returned to H-E-B as a consultant for the Y2K Project; changing and testing Mainframe code to function properly through the upcoming milestone of a new century.

After Y2K, I was asked to stay on as a consultant to IT and continue using my Mainframe skills to work on various applications across the company. I gained a lot of business knowledge working on these different systems that has helped me work horizontally in my career. The combination of business and technology has been invaluable.

Through my dedication to quality and timeliness, I became a trusted advisor to Accounting. In 2005, Accounting continued my consulting contract to focus only on the needs of Accounting Systems.

Senior Systems Analyst to Assistant Controller

H-E-B Grocery Company
12.2009 - Current

Changing focus from raising my two boys to my career lead me to become a Partner again in December 2009. I continued to grow in my knowledge of the business and learn new systems and technologies.

My work changed from fixing a backlog of issues in Accounting Systems to developing new systems to eliminate manual work and improve processes. This is where I really shined. Efficiency. I am good at discovering, or being told, a need and finding a way to make it better; whether that was saving time, increasing the quality (reducing errors), or removing manual steps.

I also became the "Go To" person when a new business initiative was needing some type of accounting functionality that had to be done quickly. Other systems/platforms were not always as agile to accomplish the goal fast enough. With my accounting knowledge, technical knowledge, and business knowledge, I was able to take action to design and implement quick solutions. Most of these initiatives continue to bring in large amounts of revenue to H-E-B.

As Mainframe Retirement got closer, I did more collaboration with Digital, Business Intelligence, and the Business to move needed systems off the Mainframe. Through my years of gained knowledge, I am able to translate ideas and help each side understand the needs and solutions.
