"Sara Todd is being awarded the Award for Bravery on behalf of Trader Joe's for her incredible bravery and compassion during the heartbreaking hostage and active shooter situation that took place on July 21, 2018, which tragically took the life of her coworker, Melyda Corado. Throughout the 3-hour standoff, Sara remained calm under unimaginable pressure, offering comfort and support to both customers and employees. She worked to ensure everyone’s safety, willing to sacrifice her own in many circumstances, showing not just courage, but deep care for those around her in such a traumatic moment. Her actions during those painful hours were a testament to her strength, compassion, and selflessness, making a lasting impact on everyone who was there." - Dan Bane
