In the playgroup setting, I am working with very young children, typically ages 4 to 6 years old. This age is critical for early childhood development, where children begin to develop key social, emotional, cognitive, and motor skills. Your role as a playgroup teacher involves:

• Creating a Fun and Safe Environment: At this stage, children learn best through play, so classroom is likely full of games, songs, and creative activities. This helps with their social skills, motor development, and imagination.
• Introducing Basic Concepts: You’ll likely focus on early literacy, numeracy, and basic life skills like counting, recognizing letters, and understanding routines.
• Fostering Emotional Development: Helping children understand and express their feelings, manage conflict, and develop friendships is a huge part of your role.
• Encouraging Independence: This age group is just beginning to explore their own identity and independence, so helping children feel confident to try new things on their own is key.
