Saray Cortes-Villegas

In middle school, I would stay after school some days and help students that were struggling. I mostly tutored math and english. Then in high school, I was able to join the NHS and helped tutor students for service hours. I also have tutored my cousin some days after school.

I have played soccer since I was four years old. My parents put me in many different travel teams. Most recently, my sophomore year I was playing for Decatur Soccer Academy, but I had to quit because since I ride the bus I could not make it in time for practices. Now I play for the school team only.

I started working at 7 brew this past summer. I have learned to use many different machines and how to kindly and positively engage with customers.

• Maintained and operated espresso machines, blenders, commercial coffee brewers, coffee pots, and other equipment.

I take care of two kids while their mom is at work. I also started babysitting a foster baby while his foster parent s are at work early in the morning on the weekends. I wake up at 4:00 am and drive to their home and stay with the baby until 1:00 pm. Babysitting has taught me how take care of others and responsibility.

I have played the piano since I was eight years old. I have gone to competitions and have made it to state level three times. I also joined the jazz band at school. I play the guitar as well, but my strong suit is the piano.

I stayed with the elderly for two hours after school during the week. I would read to them, play the piano, and played board games.

I have also volunteered at the festivals at Saint Bernard and the Seafood Fest at Saint Ann School. (this is where I went to middle school)
