  • Training new doctors onboard the ship with the duties and responsibility and various equipment’s like ventilators, Lucas, Ultrasound etc.
  • Participating in monthly safety meeting, assisting in making recommendation which improves overall safety of Ship.
  • Management of Medical Emergencies like, angina, arrhythmias, appendicitis, pulmonary edema, cardiac arrest, head and spinal injuries, Cerebrovascular accidents (CVA),diverticulitis, carbon-monoxide poisonings, drowning, hypothermia, seizures , retinal detachment etc.
  • Medevac, co-ordination with shore hospital, coast guard, shore side support center, transfer for the serious guest and crew members.
  • Treating common medical problems like various respiratory tract infections, dermatological conditions, acute gastroenteritis etc.
  • VSP sanitation program, MIDRS, various third party inspections like coastguard, USPH, Loyd audit, SMS audits, meetings with shore side hospitals etc.
  • Overseeing the COVID , AGE, ILI and other infectious disease protocols and isolation procedures as per CDC guidelines and cuiselines internal policy.
  • Management of occupational hazards like sun rashes, fungal infections, and ingrown toe nails management, fatigue, various musculoskeletal injuries like ankle wrist sprain, carpel tunnel syndrome, tenosynovitis, PID etc.
  • Primary Management of personnel suffering fractures, amputations, head & spinal injuries and burns sustained during handling heavy machines and equipment and referral to tertiary center.
  • Maintain a confidential relationship with patient and reveal only to Staff Captain / Captain. If it’s serious illness or medivac required. Coordinating with the coast guard, shore side and onboard department in medical evacuation.
  • Training all personnel in Elementary First Aid and Communicable Disease Awareness
  • Oversees inventory of medical supply and making requisition as and when required.
  • Maintain professional working atmosphere and taking meetings for smooth running of system.
  • Performing weekly hygiene and sanitation checkup along with Staff Captain.
  • Assisting the safety officer in the orientation of new crew toward safety and hygiene.
  • Making weekly medical reports which involves-Medical equipment inventory, Medicine inventory, Medical health report and Medical statistic.
  • Provide First Aid instruction to crew member.
  • Active participation in weekly fire drill, man over board drill and abandon ship drill.
