Summary

I would like to expand my knowledge of the culinary world from a different viewpoint and make an impact in peoples lives through food. To be able work in a fun, supportive environment and to be able to grow and thrive along with a business.

Almost 15 years of customer service/client care relations in the veterinary world has taught me how to handle just about any situation that could possibly come up. As a result, I learned that it wasn't about treating pets and making them healthy again, it was all about people. Since then, I have done a variety of food related jobs including cake decorating, retail sales and management. I expanded on my knowledge of people and went on to run and manage a small, family owned lunch restaurant and European specialty store. Learning how to judge situations in an instant and acting on those judgements is what made me the strong, confident and outgoing person I am today. I dealt with a wide variety of customers as well as distributors and learned that human relations is the most important aspect of running a business. I would like to be able to scale up my knowledge of the restaurant world and culinary arts. Finding the perfect place to do so might be the hardest part of that plan.

  • Started as a prep position in the kitchen of a small, family run lunch restaurant and in the span of about 2 years was promoted to restaurant manager
  • Was responsible for ordering through multiple distributors and maintaining inventory of the European specialty store on site
  • Trained employees on various stations within the restaurant as well as implementing a schedule and training regiment
  • Could expertly prepare all foods served as well as check out customers during very hectic lunch rushes
  • Dealt with customer questions and (the few) complaints, assisted the business owner with menu changes and new menu items on top of preparing catering menus and organizing delivery schedules.

  • Opened as well as closed the bakery with little to no supervision or assistance
  • Learned many different signature cakes, how to decorate according to the Lowes Foods standard

  • The closing shift was responsible for pulling frozen doughs for the morning baker to prepare for the day
  • Assisted at inventory and was responsible for the receipt of frozen shipments
  • Guided customers and often advised them on a wide variety of food related topics as well as food preparation
  • Created and maintained all displays in the bakery and assisted the deli with that as well
