Savannah Holloway

My most recent role was as the Costume Designer for the 2024 production of James and the Giant Peach at the Winship Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas at Austin. In this position, I collaborated with the costume crew to design and create costumes for the entire cast. For some garments, I focused on designing and upcycling existing pieces from the wardrobe, while for others, I worked alongside a team of tailors and seamstresses to draft and sew them from scratch. I also Led fittings with actors, making necessary adjustments to ensure proper fit and comfort while maintaining the integrity of the design.

Over the past summer, I worked at Ace Tailors as part of a team of skilled tailors and seamstresses specializing in wedding attire, including gowns and men's suits. My role involved observing and occasionally assisting with fittings and alterations. Working with bridal garments required a high level of delicacy, which taught me to be patient and meticulous when refurbishing or altering pieces.

During my sophomore year of college, I worked as a stitcher in the costume shop for the Winship Theatre and Dance Department, where I assisted professional drapers with costume alterations. I also occasionally supported stage productions by helping with light, sound, and stage cues.

While working as a wardrobe assistant for Soul Rep Theatre, my responsibilities included drafting and tailoring period-piece garments and preparing costumes for the feature Do No Harm. I also assisted actors both on and off set.
