Three adult medical surgical clinical rotations

In the adult med-surg clinicals I learned how to use medical equipment such as suction, oxygen, IV poles, bed alarms, and call lights. I learned how to administer medications, perform a head to toe assessment, take vitals, monitor patient safety, and communicate with the healthcare team. I also helped patients with meals, bathing, toileting, and ambulating. 

One mental health clinical rotation

In mental health clinical I learned how to view not only the physical state of clients but also the mental. I learned how to communicate to clients and teach health promotion of identifying emotions and healthy coping mechanisms. 

One pediatric and obstetric clinical rotation

In the pediatric and obstetric clinical rotation I learned how to communicate with children at different stages of life. I learned the birthing process and learned how to advocate for mothers. I learned the nursing care for postpartum mother and baby. 

One public health clinical rotation

In the public health clinical I learned how to implement health promotion and prevention to the community and patients. I have learned to always consider accessibility of healthcare to patients.
