Sales representative with a background in academic publishing.
I covered the Central & Northwest region, driving sales of all digital material (ebooks, journals and databases). My responsibilities included prospecting new customers, maintaining existing customer relationships and overseeing annual renewals. Travel expectations included attending library conferences and site visits as necessary.
I invoiced negotiated journal packages, ebook purchases and database renewals in a timely and accurate manner. I assisted in keeping information accurate in Salesforce. I communicated with colleagues across the NY and UK offices to troubleshoot tech problems, and worked with marketing on larger data projects.
I was a teaching assistant for the Duke Talent Identification Program, an educational summer camp for gifted teens. I worked with my professor to create an innovative curriculum, and co-taught the course “Signs & Symbols”, which focused on literary theory and semiotics.
I assisted the publicity, marketing, editorial and art departments with various tasks from updating information on Edelweiss to formatting press releases and writing promotional social media posts for author events. A highlight was attending the 2015 Book Expo America, where I helped set up The Experiment's booth.
In August 2013, I was hired as a keyholder at American Apparel. By October 2013, I had been promoted to Assistant Store Manager at the Downtown Seattle location and in March 2013, became Store Manager. At this high-traffic location, I was responsible for managing over a dozen employees including keyholders, sales associates and the backstock team. My responsibilities included hiring new staff, and training employees.
