During the summer, I volunteered at Sheridan Creek Equestrian Center from about 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 2 to 4 days a week. In this position, I would.

• Assisted in the grooming of horses, including brushing manes and tails, cleaning hooves and providing baths.
• Performed general maintenance around the barn such as painting fences and raking arenas.
• Loaded and unloaded hay bales from trailers using a tractor-driven forklift.
• Assisted in training young horses by leading them during exercise sessions.
• Cleaned stalls of manure and bedding material; replenished with fresh straw as needed.
• Provided daily care for horses including feeding, watering, exercising and turnout time.
• Cleaned and refilled feed buckets and waterers.
