Freshman at Cal Poly majoring in Early Childhood Studies, in the teaching route to be a dual language immersion teacher for elementary students, attending school full time.
I have recently begun attending church every Sunday, this was something I grew up doing so picked up the habit to attend again and even get involved by joining classes to complete my Confirmation.
I have experience volunteering for the city of Riverside in their annual Day of the Dead event where I inform guests about the culture and meaning of the holiday. I have also volunteered at Saturday schools with elementary students helping them with hands-on activities as well as the teachers in the school with tasks around their classroom. In high school, I was a part of the Upward Bound program that helped high school students with their academics and how to apply for colleges, in that program I was a part of the link crew which allowed me to work and brainstorm with fellow students to make the program better and more enjoyable for students already apart of the program and those who liked to join.
I have been working at Kids Empire for almost 3 years. I have adapted to change in environment with new hires with the opportunity to train to some of them. I have been able to build a great work environment with all my coworkers and ensure that we all do our part to get the job done.
I have been at ACT for about 7 months, I currently work at both all while still going to school. At ACT I have been allowed to work with families and students with special needs, this has improved my patience and allows me to notice behaviors in day-to-day life with interactions in public. Where I can use my skills and help others express their emotions and advocate for themselves.
