Schuylar Freeman

I provided assistance to my grandfather with dementia. I make sure to give him his medicine every morning and evening. I make sure he eats properly and showers daily. I transport him to doctor's appointments and activities around the county. I collaborated with his healthcare proxy to make sure he was getting the proper medical attention as needed. I made sure that he had a clean and safe environment to be able to move safely around.

Over the past year, I have worked two roles. Last year, I worked as a shift supervisor and helped maintain a safe work environment. I stepped down from that position as I lowered my weekly hours. I helped train new baristas to make sure everything was consistent. I made sure that the workspace was always clean and organized at all times. I provided exceptional customer service and helped resolve inconsistencies with drinks. I made sure that everything was stocked and made sure it was stocked properly. I made sure every customer felt welcomed in the cafe and tried to make it a happy experience.

In this role, I learned how to work in a very fast-paced environment. I learned how to use a point-of-sale system and handle money. Working in this environment taught me to navigate diverse personalities and de-escalate difficult situations. I communicated with two different kitchens to make sure food was coming out at the proper time.

In this role, I helped school-age children before and after school. I created activities for these kids and made sure they stayed on track. I collaborated with my team members to create activities during the week. I communicated with parents to make sure that their children were doing well with the time I had with them. I did training throughout the school year to make sure I was up to date with regulations.

I have been studying at GCC for the past two years. I have enjoyed expanding my knowledge of the human body and what I want to do with my future. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting different people with the same interests as me and collaborating on schoolwork with them.

In this class I learned about proper patient care and how to draw blood. In this class I completed an externship at Wyoming County Community Health Systems. At this hospital I leaned how to introduce myself and learned two-point verification. I made sure that the patient is safe and comfortable.
