Core Responsibilities (in addition to previous position)

• Perform as lead in architecture, design, development and implementation of enterprise-wide network infrastructure projects.
• Research and evaluate new network technologies and solutions to meet current and anticipated needs of the enterprise as well as enhance scalability, reliability, and performance of network infrastructure.
• Work with other teams to collaborate, communicate, support, and advise on wide range of enterprise-wide projects.

Achievements/Projects

• Work with Network Team and other teams in ongoing design and implementation of our Multi-Cloud Hybrid Data Center architecture consisting of Microsoft Azure and AWS IaaS Cloud environments as well as on-prem Cisco ACI data center implementation.
• As Lead Firewall Security Engineer research various deployment options for respective aforementioned environments, then design and implement efficient and scalable firewall solutions that best fit our use cases.
• Use python scripting tools for Checkpoint Firewall APIs and in-depth network log analysis to utilize existing firewall policies for new Cloud environments to easily and successfully migrate applications from on-prem data centers to Cloud environments while ensuring consistent network security and threat protection policies and standards.

Core Responsibilities

• Perform among team of Network Engineers as Lead Firewall Security Engineer and Subject Matter Expert for Check Point network security products.
• Plan and execute majority of firewall policy changes and requests, or act as authority on implementation of such changes.
• Proactively review, monitor, and audit rule bases, IPS signatures, and configurations to improve performance and security.
• Implement all software and hardware upgrades to Check Point plant.
• Train new engineers on Network Security technologies and practices, as well as corporate infrastructure design, operations, and policies and procedures.
• Design, implement, and troubleshoot network configuration changes related to routing & switching, wireless, and load balancing.
• Define internal standards for managing firewall policy and threat protection that adhere to industry best practices.

Achievements/Projects

• Replaced Forcepoint Web Filtering platform with Check Point URL Filtering platform which greatly improved web filtering capabilities and saved company $300,000 to $500,000 by taking advantage of tools already acquired.
• Implemented outbound HTTPS inspection on firewalls across all user networks with minimal impact to productivity and greatly strengthened security by enhancing URL Filtering, Anti-Bot, and IPS protections for critical threats such as ransomware.
• Helped interview and make hiring decisions on several highly valuable members of our team.
